Big Move to Texas!

Hello!!

I wanted to let you all know that I just moved down to Houston, TX a couple days ago. It is definitely a big change for me being so far from New Hampshire, but I am excited for the change of scenery. I feel as though this move is something that God has put on my heart and I hope to establish a  fulfilling life down here. I will be working at my cousin's pharmacy while I am looking for a social work job. I am so so blessed to have such great and supportive family down here. Even though I barely know them they have welcomed me into their home with open arms. The first day here I was so homesick, but this scripture really helped me through:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous . Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."  (Joshua 1:9).
I will probably be knitting a bit while I am waiting for all my paperwork to go through, so check my etsy page. ^_^ Here is are some hats that I recently made for my little sister as she went off to her first year at college.
My attempt at making a cat hat, but it turned out too big. She still loved it anyways haha
I really like how this hat came out. I was just experimenting.

Anyways that is all for now. I will hopefully update with another tutorial soon, but as for now I am signing off.

Peace,
    Veronica

Question for the readers:

Have any of you ever moved before and how was that experience for you? If not where would you move if you could go anywhere in the world?

Learning to Knit

If you're new to the knitting world, welcome! I hope that this post will make it easier for you if you are just starting out. Don't be discouraged if you are not instantly at the level you want to be at, that's okay. You'll get there one day with practice and dedication. If you want to be a knitter there are just a few things you need to know: how to cast on/off and how to do a simple stitch. If you know those basics, you are well on your way to fabulous things!

#1. Casting on (putting the yarn on the needle) / binding off (taking the finished knit off the needle)

- here are two detailed videos by New Stitch a Day: Knitting and Crochet Video Tutorials that teaches the basics of casting on/off in a series of easy to follow steps. They do a great job explaining each step.

#2 learning basic stitches (knit & purl stitch)

Once you have your yarn cast onto your knitting needles it is time to put on your stitches. The first stitch I ever learned was the knit stitch which will be shown on the left. Once you are comfortable with that stitch you can move onto the purl stitch. I use these two stitches the most to make just about everything.

I hope that this has been helpful to get you started. In my next post I will write about the different patterns that you can make using the knit/ purl stitches.
Leave a comment, I'd love to know about your knitting experiences and how/ why you started knitting.

Hello & Welcome!

Greetings to you and welcome if this is the first time that you've stumbled across my blog. My name is Veronica and this will be my first post on here, so I will mostly be introducing myself. I used to be an active book blogger, but years of procrastinating have gotten in the way of that. I have not updated that blog in years, but if you'd like to check it out you can click on the link
here --->(V's Stack of Books).  I am still active on my goodreads so if you like to read or have some books you would like to suggest, you are more than welcome to befriend me there.

Anyways this is me -->

I am a 22-year-old girl (yes, I am often mistaken for being 15 yrs old), fresh out of college. I feel as though I have my whole life ahead of me and I am pretty excited to see what the future holds. As an undergraduate I studied social work and minored in hard of hearing and deaf studies. It is my hope that one I day will be able to work with people in a palliative or hospice setting, but for now I want to focus on the present and have a lot of life-changing adventures.

I was born and raised in the the east coast of of the United States and from what I can tell I am pretty lucky. Growing up I was blessed with two wonderful parents, three sisters, and an entourage of awesome cousins. There was never a dull moment at home. As a youngster I always had a hobby, or as my family would tell me, an obsession to keep me busy. I used to love to skateboard and play on my pogo stick. I would spend hours watching Youtube tutorials of people doing tricks and crazy stunts hoping that one day I would be able to do that too. As time progressed my hobbies would change and I would be on to the next 'thing'. Right now my 'thing' is knitting and doing all sorts of crafts. I have a lot of fun trying to come up with crazy and fun knitting patterns for my hats and its always exciting to see stitches come together to form the images that I create in my mind.  In my next post, I will share with you how I got into knitting and some awesome tutorials I found that really helped me get started.

What are some of your hobbies and did they change as you got older? Let me know in the comments below!

With love,
Veronica
